Bare Burger: Incredible Customer Service

It isn't often that your favorite place to grab a burger impresses you at a time when you aren't putting food in your mouth, but that is exactly what happened to me today when I received an email asking me to call the manager of Bare Burger.

A little background information might help the story at this point - the other day I did my typical rainy day activity, and ordered a delicious burger from Bare Burger located on LaGuardia Street down in the Village here in NYC.  As always, the food that showed up was phenomenal.  Less impressive was the fact that it was not the food that I ordered.  The best part about getting grub from a place like Bare Burger is that you cannot really go wrong with anything on the menu, so even though I was really excited to enjoy my delicious Maui Wowie, the Bare Burger Supreme that arrived in its stead did not disappoint.  However, getting the wrong size order of fries on top of this led me to do something that I rarely do, and I
called the venue.  I'm not sure if the person I was talking to couldn't hear me, didn't understand me, or was just in a bad mood, but instead of getting any help with my issue, the guy on the phone tried to charge me for an order of fries to be sent out as soon as possible.

Frustration rising inside me, I instead decided to take an alternate route to voice my displeasure, and I sent a quick response in for my customer service survey from Delivery.com.   I was really surprised when the next day, I got an extensive email from the web-based ordering service, both apologizing for the problem, refunding my money, and then asking me to give the manager a call on his cell phone.

Surprised and elated at this turn of events, I gave the manager (a gentleman by the name of Mishi) a call, and he apologized for the problem.  Then, going one step beyond this already extensive and very much appreciated customer service, Mishi then offered to provide my friend and I with a free meal during my next visit or delivery order.  I was almost rendered speechless, as this type of customer service, especially here in New York City, is a very rare thing indeed.  I thanked him very much, and left what could have been an experience that left a bad taste in my mouth, instead feeling like I like Bare Burger even more than I did before.

It is amazing how far a little bit of quality customer service can go in making a loyal customer appreciate you even more, and the fact that I am blogging about it should just go to show how very appreciative I am.  There is a reason why Bare Burger is tops on my list of New York City burger joints, and this experience just adds to my love for them.

Giants Fever

One thing that is interesting about living in New York City is watching how crazy people get during the NFL playoffs if a New York team is still alive and striving to win the Super Bowl.  The Jets didn't even make the playoffs, so their fans are at home nursing their wounds and trying to stay hopeful for next year, but the New York Giants are another story entirely.

After being somewhat lackluster for the majority of the regular season, the New York Giants have decided to emulate their previous Super Bowl run and have been playing some great football.  The Giants continued that on Sunday, smashing the defending Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers.  It reminded me of watching someone play football with their kid brother.  The Packers, despite their regular season domination of most of the league, had no answer for the Giants on defense.  Offensively, the Packers looked rusty, and their timing seemed off.  They long layoff that Rodgers had seemed to hurt him in this game, and despite some nice throws and rushing, he did not perform up to his usual self.  Further, the Green Bay Packers at times appeared to have never seen a football, dropping balls left and right all over the field.  The Giants won, and have put the remaining playoff teams on notice - this team is for real.

Next week the Giants will play in the NFC Championship, where they will take on a San Francisco 49'er team that is looking very good.  It appears that both teams are peaking at exactly the right time, and New York Giants' fans should get to witness a great contest.  With a little luck, the Giants are only one victory away from returning to the Super Bowl, being held this year in Indianapolis (Indy fans should get excited about hosting the game, mainly because they haven't seen a good game since Peyton got injured).
